The new year has far begun and it is probably a good time to list down our top 5 books that are must-reads for this year. There have been loads of books that have been released or are scheduled to release, which has all of us hyped up. The book revolves around Linus Baker who loves to lead a solitary life. In his forties, he resided n a small house with his pet cat and his old records. He is also a Case Worker at the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. Owing to this he spends his days overseeing the well being of children in the government-sanctioned orphanages.

One day he is summoned by Extremely Upper Management and he is given a highly classified assignment to travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage. This was where six dangerous children resided. Linus has to keep his fears at bay and decide whether these kids were likely to bring about the end of days.

This book is more of a self-help book than normal fantasies. This book s on our recommendation list owing to the fact that it is among the most effective self-help books. Not only this but it is also written using very simple language which allows a younger audience to consume the content written in the book too.

3. The Silent Patient

Author: Alex Michaelides

Alicia Berenson is a famous painter living the perfect life. Married to one of the most in-demand fashion photographers and living in a grand house in the most desirable area, what more could one ask for. One evening when Gabriel, Alicia’s husband comes home, Alicia does the unthinkable. She shoots him five times in the face and never again is a word about is uttered from her end.

This behaviour from her end turns the situation into a tragedy, more like a mystery that could not escape the public eye. The price of Alicia’s art skyrockets and she who is the silent patient is hidden from the public eye in a forensic unit in North London.

What was this drastic step by Alicia for? The reason behind killing her own husband couldn’t be something simple. What was it?


4. The Astonishing Color of After

Author: Emily XR Pan

This book is about Leigh Chan who is half Asian and half White. She travels to Taiwan to meet her maternal grandparents for the very first time. Her next mission there which she is determined to accomplish is to find her mother, the bird. The search is long. During this period of time, she uncovers a lot many family secrets and creates a new relationship with her grandparents. The book travels between reality and magic, the unknown past and the seemingly confusing present and hope and thereof lack of it. The book is beautifully written and not one that would disappoint.




5. Girl in Pieces

Author: Kathleen Glasgow

Who is the girl in pieces? Charlotte Davis. Why? Seventeen, she lost everything. Her father, her best friend, her mother who has nothing to give you. Every new thing she loses is like a knife carving a scar in her already scarred heart. Pain is a word that sums everything up. But as it is rightly said, after a certain amount of pain, we grow numb to it. Nothing hurts Charlotte anymore for her to care. Does this cause her to find her way back to the edge?
