“My doctor says that I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber,” Ford muttered to himself, “and that I am therefore excused from saving Universes.”

Imagine sitting in a bar, drinking beer, being upset that your house is being demolished by a tractor. But then suddenly, a man approaches you and tells you the earth, your home, is going to be destroyed in the next few minutes by a Vogon constructor fleet to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

And that’s just the start of this intergalactic thriller which revolves around the misadventures of a melancholic young man, Arthur Dent.

The man who reveals to Arthur that the earth will be destroyed is Ford Perfect, who rescues Arthur from this catastrophe. Ford Perfect is a human-like alien writer for the electronic travel guide The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by hitchhiking onto a passing Vogon spacecraft.

Their journey begins when they find another pair of fellow travelers, Zaphod Beeblebrox--the two-headed, three-armed alien and the president of the galaxy; Trillian also happens to be Zaphod's girlfriend. One minute you're incredibly invested in the ultimate question to the ultimate answer and in the blink of an eye, you're on the planet of the space hobo who makes every important decision in the universe.

The author has sprinkled irreverent jokes throughout the plot to keep even the most serious scenarios engaging and light-hearted. And if you like humorous books then, this book series is one hundred percent for you.
