One of us is lying duology

Five students walk into detention one day, not knowing what awaits them. Little do they know, only four of them make it out alive.

One of Us is Lying is the story of Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper as suspects in the murder of that one student who didn't make it out of detention alive, Simon Kelleher.

Bronwyn is the teacher’s pet, Addy, is the beauty with no brains, basically the popular girl who has everything to lose. Nate is a criminal. He is on probation for possessing and distributing drugs. Cooper is the athlete, all brawn and no brain.

And lastly we have Simon, the outcast, the ‘nerd’ who is the creator of Bayview High's ‘hot gossip’ app. His creation leads to his own demise. According to the detectives, his death wasn't an accident but he was murdered in cold blood. On Monday, One Simon Kelleher had taken his final breath in his already pitiful carcass of a life.

However, the day before he died, on Tuesday, he planned to take revenge. Revenge on everyone who had made his life a living hell while he still lived, that is. He was gonna post juicy secrets about all four of his classmates. So the question that remains is, who is the murderer, is even one of these four students a murderer? Or are they just stuck in a carefully drafted plan by the psychopath serial killer who is still on the run?

We liked this book because the author has done a splendid job of painting a vivid picture of the character’s and their personalities. And the reader keeps us guessing every detail until the very end of the book. We would recommend this book to anyone who likes murder mysteries and fictional books. The author should be commended over her writing as she has touched upon themes like depression etc. which are very prominent in today’s world. Not only that, Karen M. McManus has managed to develop a deep plot which is still engaging for our young audience.

So, if you want to challenge your inner Sherlock and untangle a web of lies and mystery, One of Us is Lying is for you.

"Come on Bayview, you know you have missed this."

A ton of gossip apps have emerged since the death of Simon, but in the year since the four were cleared of his death, no one's been able to create something like his app which gets everyone talking. The problem is no one had the details.

Until this moment.

But now, it's not an app, it's the game all of us have played at least once in our lives. Truth or dare..

Now an anonymous person is sending Truth or Dare messages to the students of Bayview High, and this time the target is the whole school, nay the entire town. If you choose the truth or don't respond, one of your deeply protected and darkest secrets is revealed. Complete a dare and you’ve passed. But this was not our run of the mill dares. These would inflict serious damage.

Everything's still fine until out of the blue, a student winds up dead. The question is, what is an accident, or was it one of these vicious dares?

High school juniors Maeve, Phoebe, and Knox find themselves knee-deep in the mystery of who’s behind the dreaded texts. Plenty of secrets, plot twists and surprises will keep you captivated until the much awaited end. So who chooses what and why? Secrets will be revealed, problems will stir up. So if a high school drama filled with crime, and mysteries, interests you, you should read this sequel to One of us is lying.

If you have read any of these books do let us know your opinion on them. If you have any more book recommendations, we would love to hear from you. Until then, Ciao.
