In the end, she realises that she can’t change the family but she can surely make a positive change in Grayer’s life and pursue dreams of her own. Throughout the book, Nan faces numerous challenges and learns important lessons about life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

She hires a new coach and slowly makes changes. However as she becomes more successful, she finds herself being pulled into the glamourous and cut-throat world of professional tennis. Charlie is torn between her desire to win and her commitment to playing fair and staying true to herself. What does she do in the end?
