Recently the “old money” trend has been quite popular on all platforms. Books set in high-fashion cities filled with glamour are something that most of us haven’t read much of. Now isn’t too late! Here are our recommendations for books in this specific genre

This book tells the story of a young woman named Nan who works as a nanny for a wealthy family on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Written in the form of Nan’s diaries this book provides a witty commentary on the life of the New York elites. She is employed by a highly dysfunctional family where her employers Mr and Mrs X are highly self-absorbed. This causes their own child, Grayer to be highly neglected. In the end, she realises that she can’t change the family but she can surely make a positive change in Grayer’s life and pursue dreams of her own. Throughout the book, Nan faces numerous challenges and learns important lessons about life, love and the pursuit of happiness.


Author: Lauren Weisberger

This book revolves around the career of a young female tennis player named Charlotte “Charlie” Silver. She is a talented player who dreams of winning a Grand Slam tournament and becoming the top-ranked player in the world. But her career hits a rough patch and she decided to make some changes. She hires a new coach and slowly makes changes. However as she becomes more successful, she finds herself being pulled into the glamourous and cut-throat world of professional tennis. Charlie is torn between her desire to win and her commitment to playing fair and staying true to herself. What does she do in the end?




Author: Camille Perri

This book tells the story of a group of overworked and underpaid assistants who decide to take matters into their own hands and steal from their bosses. The main character is Tina Fontana, a 30-year-old executive assistant to a powerful media mogul named Robert Barlow. Tina is struggling to make ends meet on her meagre salary and feels resentful of her boss’ lavish lifestyle. She along with her two best friends plan to carry out a well-devised plan to siphon money from the company. Soon the assistants get emboldened, and not much time after do they find themselves in over their heads. Navigating through the treacherous waters of corporate politics, this book is a must-read.
